Last Chance by Morgan Mandel

My proof for my romantic suspense, Killer Career, was delivered to my brother's house Friday (chosen because he has an enclosed porch which keeps deliveries dry.) The DH picked it up on Saturday. It was an exciting time to actually hold Killer Career in my hands and see what it will look like.

Since the 4th of July weekend was so busy, I had little time to check it out. I'm on page 53 of 300. I intend to read it all to make sure nothing was added or forgotten. Hopefully, I won't be bummed out by mistakes I should have caught before. Keeping my fingers crossed all will be ok.

What about you? Have you ever had problems somewhere in the publication process where things didn't go right? Please share.

The only problem I had with Pilikia Is My Business occurred because my editor and I both agreed that one chapter was unnecessary. So unnecessary that we just dropped it completely. However, I/we forgot to renumber the remaining chapters. I didn't catch it in the galley proofs and the editor didn't catch it until it was ready to go into production. It actually caused a delay of several weeks.

I got the ARC for my Aug.1 upcoming release and found 3 errors. Midnight Ink was happy to revise for the final printing, though.

Me, no. My clients, yes. One publisher told a client that if she wanted the mistakes fixed it would delay the release possibly up to a year. Not sure I would be using them again.

Congrats on the new book!

Good luck on catching all those hidden errors--for some reason they seem to elude me no matter how careful I am.
