Who has a kindle? Who doesn't? By Morgan Mandel

I broke down and ordered the Kindle3 and am quite psyched up about getting it. I've already bought Marilyn Meredith's kindle edition of Lingering Spirit. Someone who has a kindle had mentioned on an egroup that she had ordered tons of books before her kindle was delivered and they were all on there when it arrived. That sounded pretty handy, so I tried it. Actually, so far Marilyn's is the only one I've paid for. The others are freebies.

This is coming from someone who has a large TBR pile of traditional books, which I plan to read one of these days. (g)

What about you? Do you have a kindle or plan on getting one? If you have one or pre-ordered the latest, what do you like about the kindle?

If not, why don't you like the kindle?

I don't have a Kindle, but it's not because I don't like them. I just happened to have a nook. They both have their assets.

I miss a backlit device, since I'm used to reading on a Pocket PC. My booklight batteries don't last long enough, so I'm going to buy a booklight with an AC adapter.

I also have the Calibre program to convert my own documents and some other ebooks I already own into the EPUB format. LOVE that feature!

Let us know how you love your Kindle, M!

I hate my eBook reader but love my Kindle, and I'm wondering why you don't have a copy of Mysterious Writers on your new Kindle. The last time I looked your interview is there. :)

I would like to get a Kindle sometime soon. My new children's book that's being released this month will be available on it. I'm getting more comfortable reading for a long time on the laptop, so I think the Kindle would be better than that. Congratulations on getting one, Morgan, and the freebies!

I love my Kindle, the original. I'm trying to find an excuse for a Kindle 3 when my Kindle 1 still works perfectly. :-) One of my favorite things is all the free books available for Kindle. The problem is I need to dedicate about a month to nothing but reading for pleasure to get caught up.

I have a Sony and love it. I'm hesitant about the wi-fi devices. Seems like it's more about selling books than the technology.
Or maybe I'm a control freak who wants to add the books from my computer.

I love the fact that you can get the books with the wi-fi. It's like magic--until you have to pay the bill.

Don't have a kindle, nook, iPad or anything else. Beyond the money angle, I am not a tech guy and need to see one via the library or somewhere so that I could play with it a bit and see how it works.
