Time for An Update - What's Your Work In Progress?

I've been enmeshed with writing Forever Young, my paranormal thriller about a widow who takes an age reversing pill to turn 24 forever. You'd think that would be a good thing, but she gets into all kinds of difficulties because of it.

What about you? It's been a while since I've made a call out. What's your work in progress?

I have been busy updating Danger Within for e-release soon. I'm doing the same for The Innocent Never Knew. Both are still available, but out of print. The e-versions are re-written and updated. All of my books will be available as e-books by the end of this year.

Good idea, Mark! e-books are happening!

Good luck with your WIP Morgan. Sounds interesting :)

As for me, I'm embarking on the second book in a series, the first already under contract. This is the first time I've written the second installment in a series and I'm trying hard to make sure it all continues well but that the second book can be read as a stand-alone if necessary. It's interesting, but I do love a challenge :)

I'm working on Mansion of Love or Love, Lust and Murder (working title and can't decide which one). This one has taken me forever because I wrote a synopsis and outline for it almost 2 years ago at the advice of a speaker I heard. What a mistake that was. I still have a hard time getting that outline out of my head. One of these days soon, I hope to finish it.

My current WIP is an historical novel set in late 1880s in New York city in the immigrant world. Two Irish immigrants and one native born fight for survival and a place in the new world. They face threats from both human enemies and the great blizzard of 1888 that shut down the east coast and completely isolated Manhattan for several days.

So many busy writers. I love it.

I've got two things in the hopper right now. A Christian kid's book that I'm collaborating on with a friend and my MG historical Amelia's Mission. I've decided the latter needs extensive work to tighten up the beginning, but I think I'll plug through until the end and worry about that later.

Good luck with your WIPs everyone!

Morgan,

I'm working on an historical novel I've been thinking about writing for years. NO ESCAPE: THE SWEETWATER TRAGEDY is the story of a young woman hanged with her husband by cattlemen who wanted their land, some 50 miles from where I live. It's also about single women homesteaders.

I'm also in the middle of my second children's novel, THE GHOST OF CRIMSON DAWN, which also takes place in Wyoming.

MORGAN--seems like everyone has two things going. Me, too--and while buried in edits. I must be crazy--or slowly going there.
1--a 40,000 word story for a HonkyTonk Series
2--a full novel based in North Texas in 1919--this one will die of old age if I don't get back to it! Celia

I am nearing completion of the third novel in the Alvarez Family Murder Mystery Series. The first two are called Murder Is A Family Business and A Wedding To Die For. This last one is called, Death Runs In The Family. I can't wait until it's done. I want to move on to something else, even though I've been having a ball writing it.

Morgan, I am almost done on polishing a medical romance--much more romance than medical--set in France. I'll have to submit it soon. Now I am hesitating between two books for which I have partials. One is a romantic suspense set in Florida and the other a sensual romance set in Greece.

I'm polishing a nonfiction ms on writing skills. What makes it different is that it features my two friends, The Big Bad Word Wolf and Little Red Writing Hood as his ascerbic agent. Nothing like learning with a little off-beat humor.

Forever Young sounds really interesting. It could be a mystery, thriller or comedy!

Not too many comedic moments in Forever Young, Helen. My heroine is really in a pickle right now and I have to get her out of it!

Morgan,
How cool! That's a story that I'd want to read! In my WIP, A woman from Vermont who run a heritage museum buys a very valuable Faberge Egg from a shady guy on the street. Not good. The bad guys are after her to get the egg back and only the hero, a Russian descent of Romanovs can save her!

Thanks for asking! I'm doing final edits on CHOKE and hope to turn those in today (if I get off the internet!). I'm polishing the sequel, SMOKE, and am 6 chapters into a first draft on book #3 for that series.

However, I'm setting the novels aside and taking some time to work on short stories this week--after I turn in my edits.

I'm finishing up the second in the Crescent City Mystery Series, Jambalaya Justice, the follow up to Gumbo Justice. It is way past due but I wanted it to be as perfect as I can get it, and although I work by a pretty tight outline, I found myself coming up with ideas I thought were better than what's in the outline, so it put me a little off track. Hope to be finish in the next week and get it to my publisher!!!!

I'm in the final chapters of Through a Yellow Wood, the sequel to Hemlock Lake. Just gotta kill off one more character and then it's time to revise.

I'm working on the fourth book in my Pliny the Younger series, set in ancient Rome. My editor has the third book, The Corpus Conundrum, which will be out in time for Bouchercon.

Trudging through the sequel to my first novel THE BALLAD OF JOHNNY MADIGAN. Waiting for release of my second, THE BAITED TRAP, which is a different genre. My publisher asked me for a sequel to "JOHNNY". I find it much harder than the first two. John Bray

My main project right now is an editing job, but I am taking an hour or two a day to work on compiling some short stories into a book. The stories all have older men as the central character and I am calling the collection "Wisdom of Ages."

I absolutely love all the clever names of these works in progress! We'll soon have many great books to choose from.

I'm working on a second mystery, the first (I hope) in a serio-comic "amateur-sleuth" series set in Ashland, Oregon, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Several projects.

By the way, the new background makes it very hard to read the type.

I'm working on a second book in my spy series, only this one is a lot more complex. There is a serial killer, a complicated romance, and eventually there will be a trip overseas to rescue someone. I'm about 2/3 of the way done. I'm really enjoying this one...Plus I have 3 others hand-written as notes from dreams I woke up with. I love when I dream whole plots...I just have to race to write them down in the morning!

I'm still knee-deep in my second book, METAPHOR FOR MURDER, which is going to grow a long white beard if I don't wrap it up. I'm signed up for an intensive online workshop in April and want to use it to get a handle on Book 3. The only thing standing in my way is Book 2. Grrrrrrr!

Forever Young sound fascinating and I'll look out for the release date. I'm trying to knock my second novel (The Deepest Secret) into shape but marketing for the first one seems to take up 80% of my time. I'll have to reverse it, I think.

I'm working on a sequel to The Traveling Vampire and the Farmer's Daughter.

Same background, Kevin, only the header picture was made smaller.

Keep busy, everyone, and get those manuscripts done!

On second thought, why make it hard on anyone's eyes. Too many of us are seniors! I've changed the background to white, which kind of goes with the snow motif anyway.

Once Spring takes hold, maybe I'll find another header pic to put up.

Greetings, Morgan et al.!

I'm pushing to complete my M/F/M erotic romance "Wild About That Thing" before I head off on my annual trip back to the U.S. The story centers on blues music - the title comes from a very famous song by Bessie Smith.

Also have several WIP on the back burner, most notably a M/M sci fi romance.
