Procrastination? Or Promotion?

I'm working on a cozy mystery.  I started this story from what I can see from the file, in February 2012.  Since that time, I've finished a romance, wrote two novellas, and a full length contemporary romance.

And I still have 29,000 words left on this cozy.

I've released three books this year.  I spend a lot of time blogging, posting on Facebook, social networking, and, not, writing. Finishing this book has been on my to do list for three months.  And I'm making progress, just not finished.

I'm good at time management, really.  So what's the problem? I'm not sure, but my goal for this December is to finish the darn book.

I still have edits to finish before December 15th, my edits for Return of the Fae could arrive any day, and I'm doing a signing one weekend at the beginning of the month.  And of course, I have the day job. (I am taking off days around Christmas that should help.)

Wish me luck.

Anyone got some helpful hints? Ways to stay off the internet? What are your goals for the last month of the year?

No helpful hints, I'm in the same boat. I finished my latest novel last Nanowrimo, (2011) and haven't looked at it since. It's only a first draft, and needs a LOT of work. But promoting takes up most of my time. My NY resolution is to finish the damn book. Maybe if I carve out 2 days a week where I do nothing but write, and disable Facebook somehow?

Damn Facebook... LOL

Good luck with your goal. Maybe we can push each other!

I have the same problem with my historical that I've been reseraching for more than 20 years, on and off. I've written a lot of books in the interim but this book keeps getting left on the proverbial shelf. I've got less than 15,000 words to finish but now travel and the holidays have pushed the book back onto the shelf. Staying off the Internet isn't easy and I don't have an answer other than taping the words "Will power" to the screen. :)

When I'm behind schedule and too busy to write those 2,000 words a day, I give myself permission to write for 15 minutes. That's easy to handle. What usually happens is 15 minutes turns into an hour or two and before I know it, I'm finished!
