(In fact...I grew up near Greenville, SC, in Anderson, Diane!) My characters for my Myrtle Clover series live in a town very similar to Anderson.

My Memphis BBQ series is set, obviously, in Memphis...this is going to require research, which I plan on doing later this month.

Elizabeth
Mystery Writing is MurderElizabeth Spann Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15625595247828274405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041804343600978883.post-88119125949811077042009-07-08T12:11:28.858-05:002009-07-08T12:11:28.858-05:00Familiarity. I've never given them specific addresses, but one of my main character's father owns a Mitsubishi dealership in Greenville, SC - and there is no such dealership! And in that same book is a Starbucks on 5th Street in downtown Atlanta - and there really is one there inside the Barnes & Noble.

L. The town she lives in, Bear Creek, has a striking resemblance to my town.

In my Rocky Bluff P.D. series I'm writing about a fictional town somewhat like Carpenteria CA--but Rocky Bluff is far closer to Ventura than Santa Barbara.

I like to write about fictional places so when things change in the real places I've based them on there won't be errors in my books.

Marilyn a.k.a. I love the sound and waves of the ocean, but am not wild about the grit and humidity. Mmm. Maybe the mountains would be best for me (and my fictional character).Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03171630819400384478noreply@blogger.com
