It's important to remember this when the marketing and promotion tend to take over. The muse will return when these other needs subside.Nancy J. I do that a lot. When I'm driving, hiking, chores at home. I can't concentrate if my desk is messy, so I clear that away then write, do research, etc.Carole Pricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12878208750636105503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041804343600978883.post-12825536657290800892013-07-18T10:38:41.969-05:002013-07-18T10:38:41.969-05:00Susan,

However, I still start writing right after breakfast. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to spend more time on e-mails because my editor might have finished marking the changes she wants. Since I didn't get one from her, I need to stop reading e-mails and get busy.
Carolyn Rae Williamson
Romancing the Gold, coming soon from Noble RomanceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041804343600978883.post-35185162827136333152013-07-18T08:15:11.267-05:002013-07-18T08:15:11.267-05:00Janis, to have both family and career works in the...Janis, to have both family and career works in the long run. I've managed for 28 yrs and 70 plus bestsellers. It's a lot easier now, than when I started as a single mother of 3 with a full-time job and 2 major publishers. For one thing, iPads/computers can be hauled out of purses to take notes on stories, etc. during breaks and waiting periods. (I used notepads) Waiting rooms are great story-catchers. Also dictation helps to catch and hold ideas. So all is possible and the stories are there, waiting. :) Cait London Lois K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03641810400188694927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041804343600978883.post-6699325457671060752013-07-17T10:56:47.709-05:002013-07-17T10:56:47.709-05:00Well said, Janis. I love how you show the difference between what that really means and how we sometimes confuse it with those moments you need to schedule around. Thanks for addressing this.

I know what you mean--family takes priority, and we can always catch up.

I remember having to spend the day in the hospital because of my mother, and another day because of my father. I ended up writing during the hours of sitting there. Otherwise I would have gone crazy with worry! (Both surgeries went well, btw.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03804663697586289510noreply@blogger.com
